Mein Vater und ich waren froh als wir um 10:30 Uhr im Zug saßen.
Die Zugfahrt war zwar nicht so schön wie wir gedacht hatten, aber
das ist eine andere Geschichte. Als wir nach einer Stunde und 45 min.
endlich da waren, bewegten wir uns zur Siegessäule. Dort warteten
wir auf Teammitglieder vom Obamanetwork.(von 12:00 Uhr an)
Als wir einige Mitglieder getroffen hatten und es 16:00 Uhr war
gingen die Sicherheitstore zur Siegessäule auf. Wir mussten lange
warten da die Security alle kontrollieren musste. Nun war es endlich
geschafft, wir mussten nur noch „3 Stunden“ warten...
Um 19:21 Uhr ging es dann los!
Obama ging auf die Tribüne mit großen Applaus und hielt seine Rede.
Obama seine Rede war toll, obwohl ich leider nicht so gut Englisch verstehe.
Um 20:50 Uhr, nachdem wir uns noch mit Leuten unterhielten hatten,
bewegten wir uns zurück zum Bahnhof, dort warteten wir bis 21:50 Uhr,
bis der Zug angekommen war, und fuhren zurück.
Trotz der langen Zugfahrt hat mir Obama`s Rede gut gefallen, wer über

Ganz toll Steffen! Dein erster Blog und das von solch einem Ereignis! Der Tag war ein Erlebnis für viele die in Berlin sein konnten. Aber nicht alle hatten Zeit zu kommen oder aber es war einfach zu weit für eine schnelle Reise.
Wie viele vor Dir, hat Dich die Kampagne für einen Wandel angeregt, auch etwas zu tun, aktiv zu werden.
Du hast andere Menschen getroffen und neue Erfahrungen gewonnen, weiter so!

Guten Tag! Das ist Monique, eine Amerikanerin. Es ist 8 Uhr die Nacht. Es regnet (auf Tampa, FL). Wie geht es Ihnen denn? Sprechen Sie Englisch? Ich kann Englisch. Also, ich spreche Spanisch und Franzosisch. Ich kann nicht so gut Deutsch wie Englisch. Ich bin jetzt nicht in die Uni. Ich lerne Deutsch zu Hause. Lernen Sie lesen oder sprechen Englisch?

I wish I could write you in German. Now it is my turn to learn a language. My grandparents, great-grandparents (my mother's parents) were German(Geisers and Harpels), deep German family history. When I was born my country was entering WWII. People who spoke German at home suddenly felt pressure not to do so. People who subscribed to German newspapers or American newspapers written in German quit buying those papers. They tried to be come 'more American'. It is a loss. We are all enriched by one another's language and culture. It is the miracle of human capacity to communicate in so many language 'systems'--and many times the way something is said in one language can't be said exactly the same way in another. The songs. The jokes. The little ways we 'change words' for double meanings. The unique pattern of thoughts that happen only in that language-- that if we know several languages, we have a special 'vision' into the 'idea' spaces in people's communication systems. Priorities, traditions, history. When a language is erased, so much is lost. More than just words and speech. So I wish I knew German. I speak Spanish and a fair amount of French. I should also speak German. You see the great unifying strength of just one man who is showing us again how to be more human all around the world. WE have been given the gift of this contact, this encouragement. Seeing this effect, I am not only grateful to Barack, but to you, your son, and my 'lost' German cousins. It is beautiful. Keep up your caring and strong efforts to show the possibilities of us all connecting more strongly as a 'human family'. It is what we need to mend the sadness and confusion, the greed and hunger for power in this world. We need to be brothers and sisters first, workers for understanding next, and finders of solutions for all. Wouldn't that be the best miracle? You are influencing this change because you are taking it into your heart and keeping mindful of it in many ways, with words, actions and visual presentations. You are part of the good we all hope for. Thank you !
